Frequently Asked Questions for Therapists
There are lots of different scenarios where single session therapy would be helpful:Single session counseling is designed for people who need support now and want a focused conversation without committing to ongoing therapy. The session centers on one topic that's weighing on your and is designed for you to unload and plan your next steps. Sometimes it's hard to get in with a therapist when you need one. Single sessions can tide you over until you get off someone's wait list or until you find the best fit for longer-term therapy.Maybe you're already in therapy, but your next appointment is several weeks out and they don't have any spots sooner. Or maybe your therapist is on vacation, medical leave, or away from the office. It's possible that you have no interest in long term therapy, but you've got one problem that's been nagging at you. As long as you are not in a situation where you or those around you aren't safe, single session therapy may be a good fit.
Generally, I have appointments available next-day and same week. I see clients online on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and in person in Hendersonville, NC on Tuesdays. You can request a session easily through my client portal, and then be on the lookout for an email about filling out paperwork and a text about payment.
If you are already in therapy with someone else, I would love to help you figure out why our session was so helpful and help you pass that information along to your current therapist. If you aren't in therapy with someone else, we can chat further about your long term goals and see if it's a good fit for us to continue working together. If it's not, I will provide some referrals so you can find the best fit for you.
-People who are caregivers, for kids or parents or both, who have a hard time taking care of themselves.-People who think A LOT, who can't turn their brain off and take a break.-People who struggle with relationship or family dynamics, communicating with others, understanding how to show up best in the relationships that mean the most to them.-High achievers, business owners, entrepreneurs, founders, etc. -People who appreciate a direct and grounded approach to therapy, those who are willing to identify uncomfortable emotions, those who are looking to be challenged.-People who are OK to cuss and laugh in session.
I do not. There are a lot of reasons I choose to not accept insurance, mostly because I have privacy concerns and do not like a company having control over your treatment. I am happy to share more if you want to hear me yap about it. If you are in ongoing therapy with me, I am happy to provide a receipt for out-of-network reimbursement. Because this requires a diagnosis, I am not comfortable giving those for single sessions.
